Calling on the Tamil Nadu government to provide adequate security to private educational institutions, a delegation consisting of officials from the Ramanathapuram District Nursery, Primary and Matriculation Schools Association submitted a memorandum to the District Collector on Monday.
Following the incident at Kallakurichi Private School on Sunday, where the death of a female student sparked violence in which much of the property belonging to the school, including documents, was destroyed by antisocial.
The delegation represented by the president of the association Kesavamoorthi told reporters that the death of the student was unfortunate. Police investigations must be duly respected. Taking the law into their hands and vandalizing properties was shocking and totally condemnable.
The anti-social elements, taking advantage of the opportunity, had terrorized the public in which many police officers including the DIG of Police, SP and many staff were injured.
Given the gravity of the situation, private school managements in Tamil Nadu, in a bid to condemn Sunday’s incident, called on Monday for schools to be closed.
Under such circumstances, association officials presented a memorandum to collector Johny Tom Varghese seeking his support to keep the schools running unimpeded.
