Salmon buyers reach $85 million price-fixing deal

By Craig Clough (May 25, 2022, 8:01 p.m. EDT) — A proposed class of direct salmon buyers petitioned a federal judge in Florida on Wednesday to grant preliminary approval of an $85 million settlement that they settled with Norwegian salmon farming companies in a price-fixing suit, saying the settlement for the roughly 800 members of the settlement class represents an “exceptional” result.

According to the unopposed motion, the parties entered into court-ordered settlement talks before the deadline for the direct purchasers to file a motion for group certification and emerged from the negotiations with a proposed global settlement.
