CII is committed to helping insurance professionals better manage workplace stress


The support follows a recent survey of 2,119 ICN members via a social media poll in March, which identified heavy workloads as the “main cause” of pressure in the workplace.

Additionally, around one in 10 respondents felt that regulatory stress was their top concern at work, while 8% identified consumer demands as their top cause of stress.

In a bid to help ICN, he said he was encouraging members to access My Healthy Advantage, a smartphone app that provides wellness resources including videos, guides and webinars on a range of topics to support mental, physical and financial well-being.

ICN added that it will also aim to better promote its partnership with Health Assured, a free and confidential helpline available to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The helpline connects members with counselors who can support them with advice, legal advice, bereavement support and medical information.

Meanwhile, ICN said it will update and expand its competency framework, The Professional Map, which aims to help insurance professionals identify “the professional competency standards they need at every stage.” of their career”.

The update will include diagnostic tools for individuals and employers to help them assess skills gaps and identify solutions across qualifications, training, e-learning and continuous professional development (CPD).

Mark Hutchinson, director of memberships at the Chartered Insurance Institute, explained that the pressures of the pandemic, competition from contemporaries, employment goals and the need to meet various demands at work have “amplified stress among insurance professionals. insurance in recent years”.

“If you’re stressed, whether it’s work or something more personal, the first step to feeling better is to identify the cause and ICN is committed to helping members do this and show them ways to take action to improve their well-being,” he said.

“Balancing everyday life with the demands of work and home can create pressures for all of us, which is why the Chartered Insurance Institute has partnered with Health Assured, to offer our members a comprehensive wellness service and reliable.”
