RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper signed three bills into law on Tuesday, including one that increases arson penalties and another that supporters say will get faster penalties. federally approved drugs containing marijuana or its active ingredient for those in need.

The bills are the first the Democratic governor has received — and signed — since the start of the legislature’s annual business session four weeks ago. The debate on the three measures began last year.
