A head start for retiree insurance – ARAB TIMES


KUWAIT, April 4: The Central Public Procurement Agency (CAPT) recently met with representatives of the Ministry of Health, during which it agreed to award a tender for the provision of health insurance to Retired Citizens (Afiya) to Gulf Insurance Group, which submitted the lowest bid – KD 354.56 million; and comply with the conditions and technical specifications, reports the daily Al-Anba citing sources. Sources revealed that the duration of the contract is two years and it will be signed in the coming days.

Sources say the contract will go into effect immediately upon signing; covering approximately 135,000 retirees. Sources said beneficiaries would not pay for covered medical services as long as the amount is within the specified limit.

Sources added that the ministry has decided to extend the previous contract for a period of nine months until the new contract is awarded – the first extension was for three months at a cost of KD 42.7 million while the second extension was for six months at a cost of KD 82.6 million. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has announced the Covid-19 vaccination schedule for the holy month of Ramadan, Al-Rai daily reports. According to the ministry, vaccination against Coronavirus will continue from Sunday to Thursday during Ramadan as follows: – From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kuwait Vaccination Center in Mishref; – From 8:00 p.m. to midnight at the Jaber Bridge Center, primary care centers and the Jleeb Youth Center.
